The permanent day shift
From 25th December 2025, waste and recycling collection days moved by two working days. The council says this change stays in place through 2026. If you still use the old day, the bin waits until the new one.

Garden waste days did not move. Clinical waste days did not move. Assisted collections did move by two working days. Check the lookup if you are unsure which day applies at your address.
Putting bins out, and missed collections
Put containers out by 6am, clearly visible, at the closest point to the public highway. Waste left outside the containers is not taken. If a collection is missed, report it on the council website by midnight on the next working day.
Garden waste
Garden waste is a separate fortnightly subscription. Its collection day did not change in the December 2025 shift. The council publishes its own Christmas break for that service. Use the garden waste pages on swindon.gov.uk for the current calendar.
