7. Advertising and Affiliate Links

Third-Party Advertising: Our website displays advertisements provided by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. These advertisements may be targeted based on your browsing history and interests. We do not control the content of these advertisements.

Affiliate Links: Some links on our website are affiliate links. This means that if you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. We only recommend products and services that we believe may be of value to our users.

Affiliate links are clearly disclosed where possible. Your use of affiliate links is entirely voluntary, and you are under no obligation to make purchases through these links.

9. Modifications

The Swindon Post may revise these Terms of Service at any time. For business directory and website package terms (section 12), we will use reasonable endeavours to notify existing customers of material changes. By continuing to use this website or our services after changes, you agree to be bound by the then-current terms.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to our website immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms of Service.

Upon termination, your right to use the website will immediately cease.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Business Directory and Website Package Terms

These terms apply when you purchase a Premium business directory listing or a full website package from The Swindon Post. They are in addition to the general terms above.

12.1 Premium Directory Listings (£19.99/year)

• Term: Premium extras are sold for £19.99 for 12 months at our introductory annual price. New Premium directory orders are paid by one-off Stripe Checkout (not a subscription). We do not take automatic renewal charges; we contact you before expiry. Where we have already agreed bank transfer with you for a specific listing (for example staff-issued instructions), that method remains valid for that order. Paid extras (including your website address on your profile and a Visit website button) switch on only after we confirm payment or grant complimentary Premium, and after staff review of the listing. Requesting Premium does not activate paid extras or publish the listing.
• What is included: Everything in a Free listing, plus your website address on your profile with a clickable Visit website button, a logo, a longer description, social links and an embedded map for verified public premises. Featured placement is not included.
• When it becomes active: We review every listing before it is published. Premium extras go live after that review and after payment is confirmed (or complimentary status is granted).
• Renewal: Renewals are manual. We will contact you before expiry. We do not take automatic payments. The current introductory price is £19.99 per year; we will confirm the renewal amount in writing before you pay.
• After expiry: When Premium expires, the listing remains in the directory as a Free listing unless you ask us to remove it. Paid extras are switched off.
• Changes and cancellation: Email contact@swindonpost.co.uk to request changes or to cancel. No refund is given for the unused portion of the current year if you cancel mid-term. Existing complimentary or paid entitlements continue until their current expiry date.
• Website links: Paid promotional website links are marked as sponsored. We do not sell followed SEO backlinks, PageRank benefits or guaranteed Google rankings.

12.2 Full Website Package (from £1,299)

We no longer sell this package through the public directory sign-up journey. Section 12.2 continues to apply to existing website-package contracts and historical enquiries.

• Term: The website package is a fixed-term contract. The initial build and year 1 hosting are included in the purchase price. Once the contract has started (upon payment and commencement of work), it cannot be cancelled mid-term.
• Hosting: After year 1, hosting is £119 per year. Hosting renews annually unless you give at least 30 days' notice to cancel before the renewal date.
• Premium listing: 1 year's Premium directory listing is included. Renewals are currently £19.99/year on the same introductory terms as section 12.1. You may cancel the Premium listing at any time before renewal; the website hosting is separate.
• No mid-term cancellation: By purchasing the website package, you commit to the full initial term. No refunds are given if you wish to cancel once work has commenced. This reflects the bespoke nature of the service and work carried out.

12.3 Business-to-Business

Directory listings and website packages are sold to businesses for business use. These are business-to-business (B2B) contracts. Different consumer cancellation rights may not apply. By ordering, you confirm you are acting in the course of your trade, business or profession.

12.4 Payment

For new Premium listings, pay £19.99 using Stripe Checkout on the secure payment link we send you. Payments are one-off, not recurring subscriptions. Historical bank-transfer arrangements already agreed for a specific listing remain valid for that listing. Stripe notifies us when card payment succeeds; payment does not mean the listing goes live immediately — staff review every listing before publication. Premium extras activate only after payment confirmation and approval. Website-package and other bespoke work is invoiced separately.

Legal note: These terms are drafted to reflect typical B2B practice. We recommend you take independent legal advice if you have any concerns. The laws of England and Wales apply.
