How a purchase works

The seller lists one item, or a small batch, during a scheduled show. You bid, or you buy at the fixed price. You pay that amount plus the shipping they set.

Check where the parcel ships from. A UK seller is simpler for a toy you want this month. An overseas seller can take longer, and charges can be due when the parcel reaches the UK.

Whatnot has buyer protection if the toy does not arrive or does not match the description. Read the current policy in the app. Seller reviews are the other check: look at completed orders, not just the follower count.

Before you bid

  • Know the shop price. Compare with Smyths, The Entertainer, or a recent sold listing before you chase a "deal" on stream.
  • Ask about condition if the camera does not show the box corners, the accessories, or the set number.
  • Skip mystery toy lots if you want a named item. The same warning applies as on the Pokémon cards guide: you are paying for an unknown mix.
