Registering to Vote in Swindon

Register at any time

Rolling registration means you can apply whenever you like. Details go on the register once verified. During annual canvass (Aug–Nov), updates may not appear until December publication.

Who can register?

You can register to vote in Swindon if you are:

  • A British, Irish, Commonwealth, or EU citizen
  • A resident in the borough of Swindon
  • Aged 16 or 17 (you can register early, but you won't be able to vote until you turn 18)

The easiest way is via gov.uk/register-to-vote. You'll need your date of birth and National Insurance number. If you've lost your NI number, you can find help on GOV.UK.

By phone

Call Swindon Customer Services on 01793 464601. You'll need to provide your date of birth and National Insurance number.

Special circumstances

Contact Electoral Services on 01793 464601 if you're living overseas, a service voter, crown servant, diplomat, homeless, in a mental health hospital, or wish to register anonymously. Special forms are available for these circumstances.

Rolling registration

You can register at any time. Your details will appear on the electoral register once received and verified by Swindon's Electoral Services. Note: applications received during the annual canvass (August–November) may not appear until the December publication. The council publishes updated registers on set dates throughout the year.
