MECA Swindon the big hall at Regent Circus

Researched and published by The Swindon Post. Last reviewed 14 October 2026.

MECA is the room you use when a pub cannot hold the crowd. Club nights, larger concerts and comedy that needs a hall. It is at Regent Circus, close to the station. The Vic is the standing pub on Victoria Road. The Wyvern is the seated theatre.

Who it is for

A named club night, a touring act that will not fit the Vic, or a comedy show that wants a hall rather than a theatre seat. It is not the place for a quiet pint. That is a pub, including the Vic. A seated musical or the panto belongs at the Wyvern.

The venue's own hire page lists the Theatre Hall at 1,500 standing, 700 in theatre seating, and 600 cabaret. The balcony stands 300 and seats 150. Hire of the room starts from £100 an hour. That is a private-hire rate, not the price of a ticket.

Getting there and parking

MECA says it is close to Swindon station and on several bus routes. Regent Circus is in the town centre, so you are not walking up the Old Town hill. Car parks around the centre still fill on a Saturday night.

Pre-book parking in the centre

Regent Circus is walkable from the station. A car needs a space booked ahead.
