Who supplies water in Swindon?
Thames Water is the regional water and sewerage company for Swindon and much of the South East. They are responsible for supplying drinking water and removing wastewater. You do not choose your water supplier – it is determined by where you live. If you're new to the area, you should set up an account with Thames Water (or the previous occupant's account may be transferred to you).
What you pay for
Charges cover water supply (drinking water) and sewerage (wastewater and surface water drainage). You may be billed by Thames Water directly, or in some cases water charges are included in your rent or paid via a landlord or managing agent. Meters vs unmetered
You may be on a metered supply (you pay for what you use) or unmetered (charges based on rateable value of the property). If you're unmetered, you can often request a meter to be fitted; it can lower bills for smaller households. Contact Thames Water to check your billing type and request a meter.
