STEAM Museum of the Great Western Railway

STEAM tells the story of the Great Western Railway and Swindon's railway heritage. It's on the historic Swindon Works site, with locomotives, interactive displays, and exhibitions about the people who built and ran the railways. A great day out for families and railway enthusiasts.

What to see

STEAM houses iconic GWR locomotives including 'Caerphilly Castle' and 'King George V', plus interactive displays, a GWR Signal Box train driver simulator, and exhibits about the railway workers who made Swindon famous. There's a station platform showcasing GWR elegance and glamour, and the museum runs a programme of temporary exhibitions.
