Appointment at Swindon Town

Holloway was named Swindon Town manager on 25 October 2024, on a deal until the end of the 2024-25 season. He replaced Mark Kennedy, who was sacked after a poor start that left the club 22nd in League Two with just 12 points from 14 games. Holloway's task was to stabilise the team and push for survival – and beyond.

Managerial career

Holloway has managed for over 28 years and has taken charge of nearly 1,000 games in English football. His most notable achievements include:

  • Queens Park Rangers – Promoted to the Championship in 2004
  • Blackpool – Led the Seasiders to the Premier League in 2010 via the play-offs
  • Crystal Palace – Promoted to the Premier League in 2013, also via the play-offs

He has also managed Bristol Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City, Millwall, and Grimsby Town. His last role before Swindon was at Grimsby, which he left in December 2020.

Playing career

Before management, Holloway was a midfielder who played for Bristol Rovers, Wimbledon, Brentford, Torquay United, and QPR. He made over 500 league appearances and was known for his combative style and leadership.

Personality and style

Holloway is one of English football's most colourful characters – known for his passionate press conferences, memorable quotes, and attacking philosophy. He has said he still has "a lot more to offer" in football and is determined to make an impact at Swindon.
